Julien Hervé
Julien Hervé initially considered studying physics, but at the age of 21 he chose to devote himself entirely to music. He studied with Pascal Moraguès at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris.
Since 2008, he has been principal clarinet of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, performing under leading conductors in major international concert halls.
As a soloist, he has appeared with ensembles including the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfonia Rotterdam, Prague Philharmonia, Łódź Philharmonic Orchestra, Louisiana Chamber Orchestra, Les Dissonances, Les Siècles, La Symphonie des Lumières, Orchestre régional de Cannes, Orchestre de Chambre de France, Banda Sinfónica Municipal de Madrid, and the Orchestre de Picardie.
A highly sought-after chamber musician, he performs regularly at international festivals. He is a member of Het Collectiefand the Calliopée Ensemble, and serves as artistic director of the Rotterdam Chamber Music Society and the Festival International de Musique de Chambre de Thèze.
In addition, he collaborates with D'Addario on the development of new materials and is a Buffet Crampon Artist.
In 2018, he performed as a soloist with Joyce DiDonato and Yannick Nézet-Séguin during the 100th anniversary of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, broadcast live via Medici.tv. His recordings have received international acclaim.
